Next time you buy sheers for your windows buy an extra set and I will show you what you can do with them.
A home is like a blank canvas, without an identity, just waiting for the resident to place their mark there. It becomes alive as it is painted, and furniture and accessories are placed within its walls.
Window treatments are not only functional but decorative.
Drapes can block up to 70% of the heat and cold from entering the home helping to maintain a comfortable temperature for those who abide within, but some drapes are just boring. Draping some sheers over a fancy rod on top the drapes can add some excitement to the whole room.
To tie it all in let’s take that bare couch and add some throw pillows.
Now doesn’t that make our futon look just a bit more inviting for visitors or residents to sit on?
See the plain white suede pillow, second from the left? Let’s apply some “sheer” magic to that pillow.
A piece of our sheer or another sheer fabric which compliments the sheers hung over the drapes can add dimension to the home and tie in the décor. After tying the sheer over the center of the pillow place a discreet stitch under the knot to hold it in place. Be creative, this is your home and you get to be the artist.

Great tips from a designer queen. Thank you.
Roberta, you are too kind. I’m just having fun helping my youngest with his first place.
Those are some great ideas. I wish I would have found this when we got our first place. Everything was so bare. Keep it up Judy.
