Being one of the nature’s awe-inspiring occurrences, lightning is also the most dangerous phenomenon. Do you know that the average lightning flash can even light up a 100-watt light bulb for as long as three months? What’s more? The temperature of a lightning bolt can even reach 27,760°C and such a high temperature is indeed hotter than the surface of the sun!

Not only is lightning an outdoor hazard, it can also be dangerous for those houses with lack of lightning protection and especially dangerous when taking a shower or bath. This is due to the fact that the electric shock can be transported along the water pipes. Apparently, there is also a risk of lightning shock being delivered through plugged-in electronics, wires or the telephones in houses without adequate lightning protection. Therefore, you should unplug your television, computer, telephone or any electronics during the storms if you are living in the house with no lightning protection. This way, you can protect your electronics, computer, or telephone from damage in case of a lightning strike. It would be much safer to at least install special socket inserts that can protect against surges.

In case you are driving, you should stay inside your car. In most cases, the enclosed cars can offer the most reasonable good protection against the lightning provided that you do not touch any metal.

Avoid going in or near high places, isolated trees, metal fences or open fields.
